Really, it's hard to see what searching source code for certain key words could achieve. "90% of everything is crap" and that includes 90% of programs that make great claims. Even if a hosting company was inclined to do such a search they'd have to filter out that 90%, then analyze and understand the code, then integrate it, by which time you (assuming that you're not in the 90%) may be on your second or third release. Not to mention the reputational damage they would suffer, which other answers have well covered.

If you're that worried about it, you've always got copyright law to protect you.

Direct3D has need of instancing, but we do not. We have plenty of glVertexAttrib calls.

I saw the movie Antitrust, where Bill Gates/Tim Robbins installed camera snoop stuff to see what open source guys were typing, rather than just hire them.

What a waste of good peanuts :)

Moral of the story was: if you are an open source programmer with peanut allergy, and a hot girl wants to go out with you, she's clearly a spy working for Big Business (TM) who will steal your code and try and kill you with peanuts.

That film was so bad it was almost on par with Battlefield Earth (although Battlefield Earth was hilarious!).

It's a shame, because I really enjoyed the book. Rather thought it was underrated, compared to the rest of L. Ron Hubbards work.

Just write your code like this for protection

/* Low-Performance Last-Gen Engine */

// Really low-performance function that does nothing that will ever generate money
void Boring() {
 ...

Not read the book. The film was dreadful! I had uncontrollable laughter for about an hour once trying to explain the plot to my friend who hadn't seen it on tellybox the night after it was on.
