First Minimap?

I was working on implementing a minimap in my game engine today, and got to thinking. What was the first game that implemented a minimap?

The earliest that I can remember, as far as a minimap as we understand it in strategy or simulation games, would probably be Civilization, but I'm sure that there is something that predates that. I want to think that I remember that one of the Zork games had a basic automapping feature, but that's not quite the same.

Google is being surprisingly unhelpful on the subject...

I don't know who did it first, but SimCity had a minimap before Civilization.

I'm going to say Defender in the arcades.
