3Ddreamer, your posts just come across as projecting. They're not interesting in terms of consoles or PC or gamers, but they're an interesting look into your own worldview
Is gaming on console dying?
Hodgman,
I care about prying the closed minds open to greater reason. Sometimes thought provoking threads are the only way to do it.
By the way, leading socialogists and anthropologists study these kinds of trends in America all the time.
You best believe that the leading video game developers and hardware manufacturers got this down to a science, too.
Personal life and your private thoughts always effect your career. Research is the intellectual backbone of game development and the first order. Version Control is crucial for full management of applications and software. The better the workflow pipeline, then the greater the potential output for a quality game. Completing projects is the last but finest order.

Some people are "mama's boys" who live at home and play games on a console that their parents paid for.
Therefore, everyone who buys a console is a "mama's boy", and all real mature adults eschew consoles in favour of laptops.
Doesn't matter if you've been working since 15 to support your family, and now have a family of your own. The moment you buy that xbox, BAM, back in your bedroom you go, living with your mother.
Doesn't matter if you are a mother, working full time at a game development studio. You better watch out because the moment you buy that xbox, you're going to grow a penis and de-age back into a 15 year old boy.
Doesn't matter if you're 50 and have kids of your own. You buy that new playstation and you're moving into a bunk bed in the kid's room.
IF ONLY THEY KNEW THE RISKS!
Yep, very reasonable; real good prying open of closed minds there.

On the other hand, Microsoft would become a much lauded name in the medical and transgender communities for performing the first safe and full sex reassignment.

What the hell are you talking about!? Buying a console somehow makes someone a kid? What? I don't get your logic at all here.....
Are you even thinking this through? Do you know no adults that are console gamers? In that case, where do you live? Cause where I live there's plenty of adult console gamers....

I laughed so hard at the idea of Microsoft creating a new software that reassign gender. I can imagine the name of the software/console, the SexBox 360....

Fact is that kids and young adults drive the market for consoles more than any other segment.
Don't try to put words in my mouth or claim that I am thinking or not thinking anything of which you know absolutely nothing, please.

Except that's not actually a fact.
There are many conflicting sources about videogame demographics, but almost all of them agree on two things:
1: the average gamer is an adult (ESA says 30, other sources are even higher)
2: there are a lot more women playing games than most people think (generally ~40%, possibly >50% if you count the "casual" market)

Do you have figures to support this?
