Hey guys,
I used to work as a game designer for 3 years and I moved to US 1 year ago for a "better life" but I've lost my job and game developers dream. I'm doing something different now (network administration) but looking all the time to get back into game industry. Took a few interviews, applied to hundreds of jobs, got about 5 offers on the table but every single company withdraws when it comes to my working visa. What should I do next? Anyone else going through this? Thanks
Sponsoring a visa takes paperwork and effort. There are about 20 types of work visas out there, (E-#, J-#, H-1B, L-#, TN-1, etc.) and each one has their own qualifications and requirements that the employer must meet.
For major corporations the additional effort of foreign workers is marginal so they're generally fine with it. For small businesses the extra work involved for verification and records purposes, and if they've never done it before it means talks with their business lawyer and other individuals; they may feel that the extra burdens and cost may not be worth it to them.
