$6,000 seems like overkill or perhaps Japan is more expensive than Northern Europe when it comes to hardware :)

$6000, damn. The case must be gold-plated
“If I understand the standard right it is legal and safe to do this but the resulting value could be anything.”
Oh, I just checked back on the topic.
Originally it included the following:
CPU: Intel Core i7 975 3.33 GHz
Motherboard: ASUSTeK P6T
RAM: Corsair TR3X6G1333C9 G (DDR3 @ 666.5 MHz) × 6 (12 GBs)
HDD: SEAGATE ST32000542AS (2 TB)
GPU: ATI Radeon™ HD 5870 × 2 (CrossFire)
Sound 1: Creative PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Champion Series (with front panel)
Sound 2: ESI Juli@ Professional Audio
Drives: PINOEER DVR-217JBK
Case: COOLER MASTER HAF 922
Power: AQTIS G-PowerX 1250W
Monitor: LG W2253V-PF
Speaker: Bose Computer MusicMonitor
Keyboard: Microsoft Sidewinder X6 Gaming Keyboard
Mouse: Microsoft Comfort Mouse 6000
OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
These totaled about $4,700. All of these were new at the time so today it might be cheaper.
But the constant crashes caused a few things to happen.
#1: The worst-possible timing for a crash, mixed with alcohol, caused me to go into a fit of rage that lead to the destruction of my keyboard. I replaced it with a Microsoft SideWinder X4 anti-ghosting gaming keyboard ($60).
#2: The hard drive failed completely after a crash. I replaced it with a Hitachi GST Deskstar 7K3000 HDS723020BLA642 2TB (~$266).
#3: In an attempt to fix the crashes I upgraded my GPU to NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 (~$700).
#4: Crashes remained, so I finally replaced the CPU and motherboard to Intel Core i7 4771 3.5 GHz (~$306) and ASRock LGA1150/Intel Z87/DDR3/Quad CrossFireX and Quad SLI/SATA3 and USB 3.0/A&2GbE/ATX Motherboard Z87 PROFESSIONAL (~$270).
I will soon have to upgrade my RAM as well because this motherboard only has 4 slots, so I have 2 useless RAM chips laying around and only 8 GBs.
Prior to #4, it was almost at $6,000 and was meant to be a gaming machine, yet it was unable even to watch YouTube videos. How fricking pathetic.
Now that I’ve fixed it, I’ve been enjoying Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, and Crysis 3 the way I was always meant to be able.
