OK, I had to reinstall windows 98 and it''s taken over the boot sector. Is there a way for me to get LILO back without a boot disc or has my lack of foresight got me into a hole I can''t get out of?

Well, do you have a bootdisk now? If so, you''ll need to use that to boot back into linux, and from there, run whatever setup tool came with your distro to reinstall LILO (actually, I''m not sure, but running the "lilo" command as root MIGHT do this... I''d just go with the setup tool just to be safe)

You should be able to do it without a bootdisk. Just boot from the linux CD and do not format any disks. Perhaps will some packages be reinstalled but your files is still there.
Thanks, I''ll try that I suppose I have backups if it goes wrong even if they are a bit old now.
I like loadin, it on the Linux CD. You press F8 Key at bootup.
and When the windows chouses apear chouse Prompt only.

I have a batch file called linuxstr.bat
cd\windows\apps\linux
autoboot
