How can I make my game unavailable in a specific country? I mean from a legal point of view ....not that I dislike the people there ...rather I want to make sure that in a business/legal sense Im not distributing my software in that country.

Whats if I sell the game through a publisher that sells worldwide like Steam? ...what if Im selling it on my own website? ...and what if the game is freeware(and no ads, in-game purchases whatsoever).

1. Then you would have to talk to the publisher, see if they have the ability to prohibit sales in that country.

2. Then you can try to detect the customer's country (by various means, like for instance IP address), and refuse the sale.

3. Then you may not be able to prevent sales in a specific country.

In any case, a determined customer is likely to be able to get your game by hook or by crook somehow.

I dont mind if the users manage to get it "somehow". I want to ensure that from a legal perspective Im not distributing it there.

2- I guess putting it into the game`s EULA that "I agree that Im not from xyz country..." is not sufficient.(or maybe even unethical?) Is it the same with putting a checkbox with a similar text on the download page and disable the download link if they dont check it. I dont think its worse than IP-ban. That might be inaccurate due to IP-spoof, proxy.

3- ...well, yes, ...freeware also means that its free to redistribute. I dont want that one. Is it possible that its free to download but not for the people from XYZ countries ...and its not redistributable?
