Hi I'm posting for the first time so I'm not share if this is the right forum. I'm making my first pc for game development and I would like to know if I need a workstation gpu or can I use a high quality consumer gpu like a Radeon HD 7790 or Geforce gtx 690? Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you.
GPU Help.
I'm doing my OpenGL coding on an ION2 (aka GeForce 210, 16 cores, 512Mb) with a single core N450 Atom. I don't think there is a GPU around that has OpenGL 3.3 support and that has worse specs than this ION2.
So I guess yes, a GTX690 would suffice

A normal consumer GPU unless you plan to do something special like heavy GPU processing, ubermodeling (?), video editing, rendering of hours long photorealistic movies...
Basically get a special gpu if you do really special stuff on it.
If you run the games you make for other people or model a zombie, youll be fine with anything above an integrated gpu...
