Does anybody know of a good Twitter client for Linux? (or a program that can behave as one at least) I have tried Gwibber because it came installed by default, but not only it lags horribly (especially since I updated it), the reply action doesn't even work (it literally does nothing, I'd really like to know what's going on that this program is so broken).
Besides, um, working well =P I'd want the program to let me filter messages by user (if it can store the list, even better) and if possible access to direct messages as well. Even Gwibber does that so I assume it isn't hard to find something like this. If I can find it in a repository instead of being forced to build from source, even better.
Any ideas?
Good Twitter client for Linux?
Don't pay much attention to "the hedgehog" in my nick, it's just because "Sik" was already taken =/ By the way, Sik is pronounced like seek, not like sick.
There is this one program that I like to use called Chromium, but sometimes it's not installed on some of the computers I use, so otherwise there is this other one called something like Flaming Fox or something. Oh, Firefox. Yeah.

The whole point of using a Twitter client is not having to use a browser...

Well, I do an 'apt-cache search twitter' and see a half dozen twitter clients. I don't use that product so I can't comment which one is best.
I gather you 'updated' gwibber by replacing the one supported by your distro with one you custom built yourself? Did you get all the settings and patches right?

Most of that is libraries. Ouch.
Picking out from what I found there: qwit, turpial, pino, bti, twidge. The first two don't let me filter by user, pino outright couldn't connect (o_O) and the latter two are command line tools. Will check some more (if I can filter them out of the huge list...), but so far that doesn't look very encouraging =P Also Pidgin seems to support Twitter, but again, no filtering by user, which is annoying.

Gwibber updated when I updated the distro (I was still using Ubuntu 11.04 until not long ago). Before that it used to lag quite a bit when updating, but now it's outright unusable for me =/
Generally I use the web interface with Opera, which works fine most of the time (and if I want to check somebody's timeline for some reason (generally because we're in a reply chain) I just go to their user page), but occasionally that breaks too (apparently a script crashes, killing all javascript in the process) which is why I want to use a dedicated client instead.
