I hate this site

Hogman: Cornstalks made the statement about "real programming" and I merely responded. He said: "real programming concepts have little to do with assembly and machine code". So, I asked what authority he has to say "real programming" is? Understand? =)

He was responding to a statement from you about "real programming" -- that was definitely a topic you raised first. So the question is what qualifies YOUR opinion any more or less than Cornstalks'?

You stated an opinion, and he stated an alternative point of view. It seems odd that you consider your opinion automatically more valid?

We're getting a little off the original topic though...

Hodgman: Sorry, you're completely misunderstanding me. Please scroll up and re-read messages. I rarely state an opinion, but when I do, I welcome critics to challenge it. Please prove me wrong.

Remember, this post is about the fool who says he hates his site, but did not provide any reasons why.

Reflexus: "I wonder why this place is the most popular game development community"

Same reason why McDonalds hamburgers are the most popular in the world. They're not the best quality, far from it, anyone can make a better hamburger at home. gamedev is like the McDonalds of game/graphics programming, they are popular for reasons other than quality, mainly advertisements and accessibility. I remember when this site came out in the 90s. I hate certain aspects of this site, as well, such as its poor design and organization that could easily be improved in 5 minutes.

However, there is a wealth of GOOD information here. There are MANY excellent game/graphics programmers who share/contribute code here, although gamedev makes it impossible to find.

I hate the way these newbie HL (C++/C#/Java) so-called "programmers" today write code - most of them are mindless followers who are incapable of thinking for themselves, they do what their master Microsoft tells them to without question - BUT I respect EVERYONE who makes a useful application or fun game in ANY language.

If you want to learn REAL PROGRAMMING concepts - ASM and machine code - from a REAL OLD SCHOOL GRAPHICS programmer, please visit my game/graphics programming site: http://sungod777.zxq.net/

I agree sometimes replies can be a wee bit insulting, but i have just assumed that they were pointing out my errors and that its constructive.

As for the library the above quote mentioned i will certainly downloading it once i get my assembly learning done
jbadams: Why does your fragile little mind react without thinking? You had my post deleted because you couldn't think of an intellectual response.

All I did was defend myself against your false accusations and simple-minded assumptions. I was being polite and respectful.
If you outsmart jbadams - which is very easy to do without trying :) - he'll delete your post.

Thanks for the motivation to create a game/graphics site that is superior to gamedev :)
I deleted one of your posts, not jbadams. You already know this, because we have had a PM conversation concerning the content of that post and why I removed it.

You are deliberately lying and playing the victim. Consider carefully your next move, I am close to the limit of tolerance for your behaviour thus far in this thread.

1. Excepting spam, I never delete a post without personally contacting the author with an explanation or unless the deletion was requested for a good reason, and this only happens a handful of times per year. I would never remove a post purely out of censorship or to make my side of an argument look better; furthermore, given our community is very active, willing to speak their minds, and technically proficient, I would expect to be both caught and called out if I did try such a tactic.

2. Everyone can plainly see that you initially raised the discussion of "real programming" (at the bottom of post #13), and then negatively reacted to Cornstalks' reply in post #16. You gave an opinion, but questioned the right of another user to offer an alternative one. Personally I don't think it was particularly unreasonable of anyone to question that, and I'm not sure why you decided to take that conversation into an argument.

3. You're more than welcome to disagree with me, and other members do so all the time. I might argue another point of view, but I won't censor you or abuse my moderation capabilities. I don't appreciate you telling lies or trying to portray me as some sort of villain.

Don't tell lies, and stop falsely playing the victim -- you will be caught out in any lies, and you will be called on foolish behaviour.

I love this site. I love it because people with degrees, students and self taught can meet here and exchange ideas. Here no title or position protects you. Just the codes and the solution to a problem that one can offer counts. Now I said it. I simply love this site for not being a "Professors only place" biggrin.png

In fact I owe everything to this site as I have learned stuff no university could(or perhaps would) teach me here. Great books and articles and the many old threads one can search through are great too.

A great thanks from the Dwarf King to the staff.

Agreed. This site is probably one of the better ones i've found. Sure, i've made my flubs and ate the crow that has come with it, but just calm yourself and treat it as a learning experience, and you grow all the better for it smile.png
