I was wondering, what copyrights protect the entries? I mean I've spent a lot of time and energy learning how to load and render models, calculate normals and animate etc. I don't want someone just coming along and copy-pasting it without giving me credit. Will there be something along the lines of:
"If you copy-paste, give the author credit. If you re-implement it, do what you like"
Edit:
P.S. Is directsound/music counted as an "outside library" i.e. could I use that for sound/music

Apocalypse Contest
I''m using NeHe basecode #2 and Kevin''s great code from OpenGL Game Programming
The problem is I can''t get the GLFont class to work properly for some reason. It seems as if I can only bind one texture in my program, and even if I just load my texture and don''t bind it it textures the whole scene... must be some newbiesh mistake.

Yes yes, you may use DirectX for whatever you want
but not for rendering

Hi!
What should be the subject of the contest? Can I use any engines or just the NeHe engines? And can I use openIL?
Thx

The theme/subject is Apocalypse so write something that has to do with the end of the world. You also must use the NEHE basecode. Did you not read the terms and conditions of the contest?

*suddenly gets worried*
quote from the Anon poster at the beginning of this thread:
Theme: Apocalypse - Any revalation of a violent struggle in which evil will be destroyed.
And I said, OK I''ll make a fight between an angel and death. Is that OK? I thought that was close enough?
*trembles*

I have read the contest page, but I haven''t found anything about this... are you sure you can''t use your own engine ? Slayer ?
BTW the prizes are great

Another question: may I "use" a friend when writing the entry ? I mean, he''d do the artwork, and I''d make the code.

About the major topic, it is not the end of the world
it''s just apocalypse
like, fight between angels and demons is ok
Dracula laughing out loud in the flowers is not
Of course, you can use your own engine, there is no problem. You can even split your code into DLL''s, as long as you give the source
For OpenIL, If I was you, I''s stick away from it, loading images as textures isn''t hard at all.

"For OpenIL, If I was you, I''s stick away from it, loading images as textures isn''t hard at all. "
Loading a jpg is about two month, if I have to write everything from scratch. So I ask somehow else
What kind of libraries can I use? Something free image loading library? Zlib?
Anyway sorry for the apocalypse theme-question, but I haven''t noticed it on the contest page. But there isn''t any ''must-use-basecode'' rules on the page. And can I use basecode II?
Thanks
