Why hasn't there been a 3D Pole Position?
I just read a thread asking about how to handle the roads and the scaling. While reading it, it hit me. Why hasn't anyone -- Namco, indie, or otherwise -- made a 3D remake of Pole Position? Or all the Pole Positions? It seems strange that no one has done it.
These early games were limited by the technology at the time. It wasn't realistic to create a proper racing game, so there you go, Super Hang-On, Pole Position, Road Rash, Vroom, with the illusion of 3D racing.
Stretching the analogy, Going back to that kind of gameplay would be going back to carts and horses. Kind of pointless, except for nostalgia factor, or making a small arcade indie game.

Everything is better with Metal.
Eh? I said 3D remake. They've made 3D remakes of Final Fantasy games, which were originally 2D. So why would this be any different?
Wouldn't that just be a generic F1 racing game (of which there are many) that happens to be called "Pole Position"?
Pole Position 2 was the first videogame I ever played.
I don't think you can remake Pole Position because there is nothing to the IP other than the name!

Oh well. I thought the game -- just in 3D -- would be cool. Even though it would simple.
