Hey folks,

Any of you know of a gameplay oriented survival (open-world) shooter game?
I'm not talking about Fallout3 and the likes. I'm interested in a game where rather than a narrative progression, the player is forced out of his shell/bunker by the mere fact he needs food, medical treatment, ammunitions, etc.
It could be a sandbox game with no end objective but survival itself.
I'm just wondering if such a game actually exists as I'd be willing to play it.

Yes. That's about the closest thing I've found myself, unfortunately, it is not a standalone game (its a mod for Arma2, and its in Alpha).
I've seen a few games in the making, but nothing solid out on the market yet that I can see for myself, just wanted to make sure this was accurate.

There's a rumour that the standalone version might be on sale by the end of the year. I'm really enjoying the alpha, but you can't get attached to your characters/gear right now due to the chances of dying to bugs.

Yes and no. It was very narratively driven and not so much about survival but I see your point. I half liked it as a result.

Sounds awesome. I've watched a full hour of various players' videos and it looked insane. Sure the visuals are not overly appealing (animation glitches, etc) but I'm really into the gameplay aspect (as the title of this thread suggests).

I remember someone messing with that, adding zombies in there (where so many others actually used explosives).
Any though what that project has become?
