Actually, I left this here because DREAM was requesting feedback on the game, which I see as relating to design issues. Trust me, if I feel it''s off-topic, it will be moved (however, if you disagree, please feel free to e-mail me).

Looks really great! I''ve always wanted to make a game like this. I got to a ship flying around, but that''s it. I agree with Hikeeba. I think there''s too much stuff going on. But then, I''m a fan of the 1 hit and you die r-type kind of stuff. Doesn''t help that I only tried it on my keyboard.
Yeah we only keyboard as an option at the moment during devlopment......it will be there in the end though for sure..The next demo should.....,lol...no will have less bullets and ships ans more of an attack pattern .....

The flourecent colors on the website kinda hurt my head at first (but that''s no big deal).
My machine (an old one I built 2+ years ago):

What I think of the demo:
Too many opponents on the screen at one time (especially to start with). But even with alot of bad guys on the screen it runs really smooth. The graphics are really cool. You''ve been working on this project what, five weeks? Unbelievable. I hate to think what it''d be like if you had worked on it a long time. Well, not really. I''d want a copy of it. How''d you do it? That''s what I want to know. A+ work. I hope to do something half as good when I grow up. Like I said, A+ work!

Hi Everyone,

Thanks very much for the feedback so far... Im the other half of the project. Dream and I have put this together in over a few weeks, so we haven''t put any design into the actual level yet, its purely a (how much can we get on screen smoothly on a low spec computer).

If anyone has suggestions on what this game should have and that could be from the type of weapons, to levels, or aliens, etc. We do have about 7 levels and a story line already but would appreciate any ideas as its the people like you who we are trying to make this game the best experience possible while having fun producing it also.

DREAM does all the coding and I do all the graphics.
Thanks for your positive feedback and we are continuing on completing the level and other shoot em up that is a vertical one which is nearly ready for demo release. There are about 5 other projects underway, so will keep you posted on them too and your feedback here is essential.

Once the project is complete, I will put together some documentation together in a PDF or via html on how we produced this game.. (all the ups / downs /pros /cons / frustrations / excitement / etc). Maybe some tutorials on Graphics if anyone is interested?

All the best.. and nice to see other people who enjoy shoot em ups.

-One thing I like is hard terrain. As in you fly into it and you blow up.
-Also, if you''ve ever played R-type, remember level 3? That has to be one of the coolest levels ever for a shoot-em-up. For those who have never played it, the whole level was you flying around one huge ship. Almost all the enemies were turrets of the ship. You could destroy all sorts of bits and pieces of it. Really amazing for back then. You should try and do something like that. Could be a huge robot, or something.
-With todays hardware you could have some really cool weapons. I''ve always wanted to do some cool missiles. When you fire, 10 or so would jetison out, then the thrusters would go off and start to track an enemy. Just thought, if you have a special button for missiles, 1 would jetison them out, leaving them floating/drifting in space. Then the next push would fire them off. Could do some neat things with that. :o Smoke trails... I better settle down, I''m getting too excited. Time for my medication.

Btw, if you want any help coding (missile tracking algorithm for instance) I''d be all over that (I understand if you want to finish it alone as well). That''s just quick off the top of my head. I''ll be back with more ideas.
Hey I like your game. Just wondering, what did you write the game in? Did you make the engine from the ground up or did you use something else? Direct X or what? just curious cause I''m working on a shooter right now too (in the deisng stage still)

- Thanks
Thanks
Well it is written in Blitz Basic, which uses direct x7, seems to be a very easy language to use but very powerful, and fast as you can see by the demo.....check out the demo of blitbasic at their website worth a look anyways i say, i did and never loked back..

check out our other shooter to vertical this time off our main page in the sig

cool game. Anyway how many hours would you say it took you to do the programming on the game once you got bllitz figured out? Did you do all the art yourself? Also I didnt''t know Direct X supported BASIC. Just some questions, curious thats all. Okay thanks. (Again, your game rocks!)
Thanks
