Something like this maybe?

Not bad, but don't see the point in the large trackpad if you've got a touchscreen.
@noisecrime: I think I see what you are saying, though I'm curious to know what specifically you refer to. I mean, if the worse you can say about something is that it's overpowered, I'm not sure that's a problem
I mean that they usually come with far too many features, both in the OS and hardware that the general non-computer users simply don't need or understand, which often inflates the price. I guess its come from buying laptops for various family members, based on their initial requirements, only to learn that it was barely used for a fraction of what it was capable of. The amount of laptops in the family that I end up fixing, mostly because of rubbish being installed or the user simply never shutting down the machine is just beyond a joke. If I could get most of my family onto a tablet I could see my life being much easier too ;)
So I guess really what i've experienced is that many people don't need a general computing device and as such these new devices can be seriously cut down in many respects, but unfortunately there are a couple of tasks such as spreadsheets or word processing which I find don't currently work well with tablets. Get that area fixed and you're onto a winner (all IMHO of course).
I also see a move towards having a central NAS in the home, which is great for storage, so little need for large harddrives or even large storage capacity. I recently got an iPad, my first actual mobile device of any kind. I got a decent deal on a 16gb iPad2 and was worried about the amount of storage, but actually since using I see no real problem with lack of storage. Obviously if you want to have a large collection of music and films on the device permanently you'd want more memory, but to be honest I only play a fraction of the media I own anyway, so can actually see it being far better to simply move stuff on and off periodically.
Again i'll point out this is not a viable solution for the people who populate gamedev and need a laptop machine, but for what I feel is the vast majority of computer users, who actually don't really use it as a computer, but more a media/social/browsing/mail device.
However I don't see tablets as a complete replacement, part of their appeal in terms of size, lightness etc, means that you do have to cut certain hardware features such as dvd, storage etc, so there is still a need for a PC.
