I started asking this question at work and the answers I got were very interesting to say the least. I don't want to reveal the trend I noticed with my co-workers just yet since it may effect the poll results. Just answer the question as honestly as you can.
I fail at most basic tasks. Such as getting a stable source of income. But it appears I'm good at anything else. So I guess I'm just average all around. I'm giving myself a +1 from average, assuming 5 is average, which is probably incorrect.
I'm now embarking on a seriously complex project. If that works I'm afraid I'll have to give up all hope of having a typical life. In a good way.

On that note it's nearly impossible for me to rate myself anymore. I'm taking masters classes at the moment and it opens yours eyes up to the huge amount of knowledge that others have and specialize in that you quickly find you only know like 1% of your field.

The dunning-kruger effect is not the trend I noticed. Actually the poll results so far directly reflect the trend I noticed from asking my co-workers.
On the only intelligence test i've taken i scored among the top 1% (It wasn't an IQ test but it was similar and was as a part of the screening processes for the military service), naturally since it was for the military service i'd assume alot of people fail on purpose (Miltiary service was mandatory back then but the country didn't really have the resources to actually draft everyone, so i might just have been stupid enough to take it seriously). I put a 6 since i do consider myself to be above average, i might be further above average than i think(People are stupid afterall) but atleast when i compare myself to others in my field i feel like i'm lacking quite a bit in the brain department.

I've noticed in this sort of thing that people, on average, tend to rank themselves at about 7. What's interesting is that while this applies to both men and women, men tend to choose more extreme numbers while women chose numbers closer to the middle.

Me? I'm between 1/0; -1; -Inf, and +Inf.
But probably since I'm so undecided my score is either 0/0 or a NaN
Edit: Or may be I'm 0^0 ? or Inf / Inf?? Arghhh it's so confusing!! Why did you ask such a hard question?!?!?!?!
