about particles....
hi guys, i got a question
i put together a small space shoot em up. i now have a starfield and the ship, and a small particle engine as shown in the tutorial (the spaceships tail)..
but now , when the spaceship is moved along the y axis, all particles are moved too, and that looks a bit unrealistic.
i want it so that only the point of the emission is moved and the particles that were outside of that point before the ship is moved keep their position and fade out.
i hope u know what i mean......

Just don''t move the particles then.
Give each particle a time (game ticks or real time... real time would be better) that it was created and draw it appropriately for that time. Then once a particle has fully faded, remove it.
Simple.
