with reference to the thread http://www.gamedev.n...-2211-released/
where andreas said that "8.5 years in development and still going strong. Now, if I could make a living out of this work. Imagine where the library would be if I could work fulltime on it."

We can understand that andreas as a 35 years old guy has developed and actively maintained it as a sole developer over the years in an awesome manner. He must have his own personal life with financial needs. Can we give him something back as a gratitude? Can we FULLFILL HIS WISH to work on this library fully -either always or atleast for a few months.

NOW,
I propose that there should be a concrete proposal for angelscript development plan like namespace, exception, autoboxing, closure, variable number of arguments in function etc etc support (the features which he humbly accepted/promised over years on this forum, but could not devote time for), and it should be posted on http://www.kickstarter.com/ to raise fund using crowd funding.
an example is at http://news.cnet.com...0004895-36.html . Open source project "diaspora" got huge funding through this
the kickstarter proposal can then be advertised/posted/put on various sites like gamedev.net etc or various indie game development companies which have embedded angelscript in their applications can probably munch in a few dollars/few hundred dollars/few thousand dollars.
So that he can concentrate fully or atleast for a few months fully on this project and take the project to new heights.
Whats opinion of you people
funding - financing angelscript development
even though andreas may not be asking for this in real sense even remotely, but probably we as a community owe this initiative to "angelscript" library - for its progress and well-being and healthy upkeep and gratitude.
i think even if a humbly modest amount is raised in this , that will also serve atleast some purpose.
the indie game companies, the individual posters of this forum can be actively approached for this noble purpose.
This should be all optional contribution. I am not asking that the licensing and commercial support should be charged for angelscript. I am saying that let angelscript licensing and model stay like it is now, but let some kind of optional contributing - fundraising initiative be there. This is done by wikipedia like organization too.

i agree that on angelcode.com the donate fund button is already there, but probably we need to make it formal through kickstarter.com etc etc crowd funding website and with concrete technical pledges/proposal to make it more organised, advertised and hence more fruitful.
I truly appreciate the initiative
However, I do see one problem with this. I have a full time job which I can't just quit, no matter how well this fund raising may work (unless maybe if the fund raising goes up to 6 figure amounts ;). Donations are good and very welcome, but they cannot substitute a monthly paycheck.
Without quitting the job I highly doubt I would be able to make up for any expectations that would come out of any fund raising like this. The people who make donations today do it as thanks for what I've already done, but the people who would donate to a fund raising initiative like this would expect something in return.
It is different for the guys at wikipedia and disapora, because they are already working full-time on their project, and the fund raising will allow them to continue doing so.
On the other hand, if someone would like to pay to have a specific feature implemented as top priority I'm more than willing to negotiate.
Regards,
Andreas
