I was wondering how a person Incorporates art in a game. For example, establishing the backgrounds, and PC (Player-able character). Do I use some kind of software to draw and place in the game or do i use the engine I am using??? and If I do use software, how do I include it in the game. I know the graphics come with the engine.

The I am currently developing is a 2D game.
Usually the engine is used to place the art within the game. One notable exception is that some engines are designed to be able to import maps or levels from a map or level editor software.

Art is not usually created within an engine. Flash is an exception, it has a vector drawing software included, at least in some versions. I think I've also seen an engine for making 8-bit or 16-bit games that had a pixel art software included. It would also be possible to build an engine as a plug-in to an art program, although I'm not specifically aware of an existing engine like this.

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.
