Hey guys this is my first post and I signed up just to ask this particular question! I am a retro music composer (mainly Megadrive type) and a Streets of Rage connoisseur of sorts (highly inspired by Yuzo Koshiro)
I came across a post titled "Sonic the hedge hog drums 1,2,3 drum samples" where a member named "Jaxx" gave out a Streets of Rage2 Soundfont (.sf2) to download!
thread link: http://www.gamedev.n...3-drum-samples/
Problem is that the download no longer works and I don't think Jaxx has singed in since 2001 lol, plus all of his sites are down so I have no way of contacting him!
I just wanted to know if any member here has this StreetsofRage2 Sound font or knows of any way that I can contact the member named "Jaxx"
-I would greatly appreciate any help! (I also have samples to trade if any member has streets of rage instruments)
Sound help please
Hello and welcome to the forum.
Why don't you use an emulator and rip the sounds yourself? Easy as pie.
And please keep copyright in mind.
Cheers,
Moritz

Hey Moritz and thanks for the welcome!
I actually have been using roms with the GensKmod and trying to rip certain sounds but I've been getting the same sounds from most of the channels that I dump? maybe I'm not doing it right? any suggestions or any easier way?

Hello,
Are you after the SFX or the FM synth sounds?
I'm on a Mac and just used Kega Fusion to log .wav files straight from the Sound Test menu in Streets of Rage 3. That worked just fine.
My first console was a Sega Mega Drive (called Genesis in NA), sometimes I still replay those games to revive the memories of my school friends and me virtually beating up punks. Surprised my parents didn't put a stop to that, they probably knew it was just a game. I remember loving the music back then. Still impressive what sounds they produced from that little chip.

Hey,
I'm actually trying to get the FM sounds/instruments but it is proving to be a tedious task....
Though I have since managed to get a couple sounds from numerous channel dumps with the Kmod (I do have SEGA sound fonts but how cool would it be to get the actual sounds!!)
Ahh it's nostalgic for me as well! Great game and I still play it now lol as well as listen to the soundtracks lol (I know sad right) but some composers definitely were able to push the YM2612 chip to the limits to get an
awesome sound!
Thanks for your response! (I think I'll take this on as a side project and perhaps create a sound font if anyone is interested)

Hey,
Sorry I couldn't help you then!
Really a shame Plogue hasn't included the YM2612 in their chipsounds VST yet. May still be worth a look if you don't know it yet, they've got a trial version: http://www.plogue.com
I tested it a few weeks ago and was amazed by the sounds it offers, the only reason I didn't immediately buy was that it would distract me from my current scoring work - sooner or later I'll have to give in to the retro goodness, though.
