New game concept
I have a new game concept:
Only voice control and sound output, without graphics.
The advantage is, that every PC (up from 286s) can run it properly. I''d program support for PC Speaker.
I think it''s a GREAT IDEA.

Its kind of like a game I made once...
Its kind of like Chess, except you play on a board and the tiles are 8x8, instead of 8x8.
But seriously...
A game like this would surely be welcomed for blind people of the world. Audio games? Hmm... To quote the wonderful show Mr. Show: "Blinds are like regulars now."
(I am stoked because my pal hooked me up with David Cross tix for this Friday!!!)

What would you do? There are a lot of places you can go with this. I can see you being cast as a blind character, and having to listen to sound to solve puzzles and deal with challenges. Definitely seems like adventure game material.
Having excellent surround sound and quality voice acting would be a must.

A fascinating idea!
Really.
Somebody should try to make this, if only to see what it''s like, never mind popular. Give it a go.
One thing - I believe all the decent voice recognition algorithms, which are still fairly shaky things, are heavily patented, and would cost more money than any of us are likely to see in one place at once. You might have to use text input instead.

Unfortunately, voice input and parsing take up GOBS of processor time. You have to train the program to understand the vocal characteristics of each new player and store that unique data, too. It would be better to have a force-feedback joystick and a nice pair of headphones, but I think a blind-fighting game would be kick ass!!

EDIT: RicharddeCosta, this forum is about Game Design discussion. The right place to post your offer would be the "Your Announcements" forum. I've moved your other post there, for future reference.

I thought of something like that a few years back. I figured it
would be nice to have something for the blind to play but I
couldn''t think of anything that sounded like any fun. I supose if
there were once text games without graphics there could be this too
An RPG of sorts would probably work. I doubt once you get all
your audio together it would run on any system and give up
the PC speaker idea. If your all audio make it good audio. Sound
cards are cheap and you would need things to be as clear and
imersive as possible to hold any intrest.
Go for it, if for no other reason than to do it. If it can be
do it should be done.

Why not ask some blind charities what they think would work. I''m sure they would be very supportive.
I wish you all the best. This is a brilliant idea.

You don''t think you''re limiting your audience just a tad? Generally, a lot of gamers won''t play a game unless the graphics appeal to them, which I find sometimes rather sad but its a truth.

Well, don''t think about it as limiting your audience but by suitign another audience.
When they maek reader rabbit games they don''t care that they are limitign their audience but making a game suiting teh younger audience.
I think this is a very interesting idea that some popel could really get into. I bet you could even get some fundign from some charities to try and put it together (though I''m not talkgni about a lot of money)
The RPG idea is a neat one and yeah using a PC speaker woudl be horrid, I remember trying to play those speelgin games as a kid on the Commodore 64 and 50% of teh time i woud get it wrong because I couldnt'' etll what word the guy was realyl saying.
I think a possible neat idea woudl to be to make liek a simon sez kind of game where yuo coudl use the PC speaker to maek 4 different kinds of beeps and the person woudl haev 4 keys to hit to make that order. There could even be a configure section so they could jstu hit those buttons and see what sound they make or even change the tone a bit to better suit theri hearing.
Just some ideas kicking around.
