In respect of the thousands who died yesterday...
My deepest sympathy to all of the people involved in this terrible happening.
How can anyone do something like this....
I can''t belive that a living human is behind doing somthing horrible as this.
Please take some time and give your word in memory of
those who didn''t survive....

I give my sympathy to all those who lost friends/parents/loved ones in the wtc but giving a word to a dead person doesn''t seem very helpful...

I''m going to get flamed for this (if I remember this forum correctly) but horrible is not absolute. What is horrible to us relatively sane U.S. citizens is not necessarily horrible to Afghan terrorists or wherever they''re from, they probably deluded themselves into thinking it''s necessary, like that scene in ''independance day'' where the pilot flies his plane into the alien ship.

Perhaps not, but I fail to see the point of mentioning that at a time like this.

I''m not happy about what happened. Like most of the people i was shocked. But US government have to be blamed. Since too much decades, they made the world crooked... Putsches, wars, arrogant and aggressive economic attitude,... How much people US politic have killed? Much more 30 000... Don''t forget that... Never heard about american oil company Unocal? Just type "unocal afghanistan taliban oil" in google. You will be surprised. And that''s just ONE example.
But i repeat : i''m not happy about what happened. Violence disgust me.

I didn''t believe it until I saw it. My first reaction was horror. Afetr that settled down it was how can thi affect me. Well besides WWIII, nukes, and terrorists. My ISP''s USA Sat link was on top of The WTC. This goes to show how even a small place like South Africa is affected. The rand dropped BY 38c to the pound. In short we are all one global community and we all share the USA sorrows.

I had no love for the wto nor what it represented and no doubt will be reborn as. My idealism hoped that any battle fought would have been in the debating chambers of the world, that people would have been moved by cogent argument and ethical rectitude to remove the ''two towers'' as a gesture of rejection of the scum of capitalism. Realism invades harshly and I feel as if my face has been hit with a stone and my heart gashed open: if it were to be put to the vote - the cornerstone of what is latterly described as ''civilised'' - the consensus would be unanimous: grief, shock and horror which can and should be answered with mercy and justice. I have every confidence that the good people of the USA will act appropriately in the times to come.
As for sincere condolances to the bereaved, I have no adequate words of my own that can begin to do justice to the tragedy and so I offer these ancient words that resonate down through the millenia with the agony of grief for an incomprehensible loss:
"Listen to me, young men, listen to me!
Listen to me, elders of Uruk, listen to me!
I myself must weep for Enkidu, my friend,
Mourn bitterly like a wailing woman.
As for the axe at my side, spur to my arm,
The sword in my belt, the shield from my front,
My festival clothes, my manly sash:
Evil rose up and robbed me of them."
- the lament of Gilgamesh on the death of his friend Enkidu from the ''Epic of Gilgamesh'' ~ [6000 years ago].

One of my best friends from high school was on United flight #175 that crashed into WTC. She graduated 2nd in my class in high school and 1st in her class at Boston Univ. She was just going home to visit her parents in Southern California before moving to San Francisco to start her new life.
It''s difficult to watch a friend''s name scroll across a TV screen as a casualty in an incident as inexcusable as this was.
My condolences go out to anyone else who may have lost a loved one in the incident. I never imagined that something like this could happen. Even worse, to someone I know.

I have to say that Oh-suck-me bin Ladin needs to be put down, not even because of this week''s tragedy, but because of the people he has killed in his past attacks. That''s why he''s already gained a $5 million bounty on his head which plenty would like to collect.
But there''s even bigger troubles, and I have to say that I like the way Bush has claimed the somewhat vague interpretation that we will go to war against terrorism not just, "we''re going to go beat up Afghanistan." At this point we still don''t know all of the spheres of influence of these terrorist networks nor if they can all operate independently from central leadership. Going in there and trying to get the fox out of his hole is going to be like finding a needle in a haystack and of course we look at even bigger measures of retaliation not so much from them but from other countries. What ever happened to those missle silos in Iraq we were never allowed to get to and what do they hold? And how about chemical warfare like nerve gas or even worse? Think about that unleashed on America. Obviously they (the terrorists) wouldn''t have the balls to unleash the force they did on Tuesday knowing full and well we will retaliate without they have some nuclear or chemical ace up their sleeve. They know they can''t win this battle by brute force alone. I hate to say it but America might be in for a long "winter". I don''t like to bring along paranoia like that, but times are changing rapidly, to win against these criminals we''re going to have to start thinking the same way they do and get a step ahead of them. I say we referring to Americans, I don''t know how many countries would back us up in a war like what''s about to go on, but it''s already on our doorstep.
Furthermore, I just want to say that this goes to show just how religion can be twisted time and time again to cater to people who want economical or political gain. It''s not in the Muslim belief that people should voluntarily martyr themselves to kill many other innocent people who have different religious beliefs purely for the sake of proving a point yet that''s exactly what has happened and is happening, bin Ladin and other terrorist networks are using their own people so that they can gain economically. This is obviously a war of jealous economics not religion.
To everyone out there who has had friends or relatives killed as a result Tuesday''s incidents I give my deepest sympathies, but I think it was a diversion for worse things to come. I hope for the best but try to stay prepared for the worst.

Suicide bombers often don''t worry about retaliation for obvious reasons. It''s one thing to get funding for a few box knives and plane lessons, but it''s another thing to get nuclear missiles or biochemical weapons. There is no way a bunch of terrorists can take on the U.S., all they can do is hide.
