Reliable webhost for hosting digital goods?

Hi,

I'm running a website where i sell digital goods. Currently I'm at hostmonster and it's ok for small files, but as soon as files become bigger (e.g. 100mb+), customers report incomplete downloads or connection time outs, resulting in corrupted files. I was able to reproduce this and the hosmonster support told me that they can't do anything about it.

So I'm looking for a webhost, where my customers reliably recieve their files.

Bandwidth usage: around 20 gig / month
No other unusual requirements (except php and mysql of course).

Can anyone suggest a webhost that makes me and my customers happy?

Edit: I'm low budget. I'm looking to spend around 10$ maximum / month for hosting

Thank you

In my opinion (mt) media temple are probably the best option out there, but they may be a little out of your budget, starting from $20/month.

I've had great experiences with NearlyFreeSpeech, who provide hosting under a pay-as-you-go scheme; they may or may not be suitable for your usage, but are well worth a look. Check out their pricing estimatorwith some actual numbers on what you're likely to use and see how the cost adds up. They're generally very good for smaller or lower traffic sites [size="1"](in terms of cost -- performance doesn't suffer for high-traffic, it just may not be so cost-effective) but don't always scale well against other providers. They also do not provide the option of a static IP, so if you need one that may be a deal-breaker for you.

Lastly, DreamHost have affordable plans within your budget and are pretty reliable; I've heard stories of problems but never experienced any personally. If you get to them today they also have a very good deal for new users to get a year's worth of hosting for $10 -- at the price it couldn't hurt to try them. I'm not sure what time that deal will become unavailable again, it'll be on the homepage if it's still current though.

Do a quick search for any provider you're considering using and see what sort of results you get -- any host will usually have a few crackpots complaining, and most will have a few people who think they're the best thing ever even if they're terrible, so look at a few different opinions and use your own judgement on how reasonable they sound.

Webfaction suits your needs. Pretty cheap and powerful. Been using it for a few years now. Pay 5 years in advance and it's only 5.50 a month which is what I do. 600 GB is well over your 20GB limit. Another nice thing is you can run anything you want on the server even custom applications. (Also external IPs are only 5 dollars extra if you ever need an application that listens like a small game server. I'm actually running a highly optimized socket server right now on my plan).
Thanks for the input, guys. I'll check out your suggested hosts now.
