I wonder if you know of some sites like carbonmade.com but for programming....
there was this site gameprojects.com where i used to have my game (and non game) projects hosted, worked like an online portfolio but it seems the administrator (Derek) or the site drop dead or something.

Of course I could get a free hosting somewhere and build a portfolio web site, but do you know of an out-of-the-box solution?

Most free and paid hosting places have a build-your-own site for noobies tool, that lets you quickly get something online with little or no web programming.
They will be tools for building generic websites, not portfolio websites. But I'm not sure I know the difference. Just build a 'generic website' that happens to be your portfolio.
