[color="#1C2837"]Hi All,
Let me try and word this post better, so to keep it in the desired forum.
I run a studio that develops a browser-based MMORPG with over a million registered users.
We are beginning our next project, and for selfish reasons (I love tactical RPGs), we're going to make a tactical RPG next. I know there are a lot of people here with some wonderful ideas regarding this, and if you are one of them, I want to hear from you!
I'm looking for ideas, and maybe (hopefully) a great designer who loves tactical RPGs.
[color="#1C2837"]
[color="#1C2837"]If you want to be part of a real game, that will see the light of day, then take a run at me with your idea. This is your opportunity. We are very passionate about what we do, and we finish games. If I see something that is interesting, then I will be prepared to sink a lot of equity into the project.
[color="#1C2837"]
[color="#1C2837"]I should add, the ideas here dont HAVE to be tactical RPGs. In fact, we're looking for any great designs, however as I stated above, I am a little bias on what I would like to work on next.
[color="#1C2837"]Let me be clear, my purpose here is to spur up some great game ideas, and hopefully flesh them out further. If you would like to be part of this discussion, with the possibility of helming your own project then please, hit me with it!
Cheers!
Tactical RPG ideas here!
Are you specifically wanting to make a single-player game? If you already have a lot of MMO players I would think it would be easier to get them interested in a new online game. There are a few quite successful tactical MMOs, Dofus is one example, but I think there is room for several more games in that market.
But if you're specifically interested in single player tactical games, Dysgaea - Hour of Darkness (PS2) is IMHO an excellent example of a recent tactical game.

I want to help design a "sandpark" MMO. Optional interactive story with quests and deeply characterized NPCs, plus sandbox elements like player-craftable housing and lots of other crafting. If you are starting a design of this type, please PM me. I also love pet-breeding games.

I am a game designer (mostly pencil and paper ones) and I absolutely adore tactical RPGs and am in fact trying to make my own--but lacking funds it has been difficult to get started.
I like tactical RPGs where large-ish battles are possible (a party of 5 or more, 10+ ideal) vs. larger fields of opponents.
I do NOT like tactical RPGs where the "army" consists of 1-3 characters.
I like tactical RPGs that are futuristic (such as the nightmare missions in X-COM) to the fantasy games (like final fantasy tactics and vandal hearts).
I like mechanics that are easy to grasp and somewhat artificial in nature (like a rock-paper-scissors but not to the extent of final fantasy tactics' zodiac signs system).
I do want to keep my own project alive so I wouldn't give over those ideas but I would be willing to create and design other units/ideas/settings/etc for your project.
Best to email me to get a response if you're interested--greentiger@gci.net.
That email is my "public" email and as a result gets A LOT of spam.
Please mention GAMEDEV in the subject so i can spot it and mark it safe.
If you don't hear back from me please feel free to message me again.

A perfect reply, and I share your preference of taking it to email.
For anyone else, please feel free to take that route as well.
