The characters look like plastic mannequins, especially the big guy between 1:15 and 1:20. The editing of the trailer is entirely standard, including the shot of the large screaming monster at the end after showing the game's name and before showing the release date. For that matter, this is the same large screaming monster we've all seen ten billion times, so this shot is absolutely ineffective. The setting is unoriginal, all the way down to calling it "the Wasteland." There's a short shot of someone controlling a small remote control vehicle--this might just be my opinion, but this "gimmick" has been done quite a few times before and it's always seems silly, out of place, and has never been much fun. A car crashes into a standing structure between 1:30 and 1:35, and it appears the structure explodes before the impact should really have happened--such collisions were simulated using physics over six years ago in HL2 (in the airboat sequence). The weapon and character designs look awfully like Borderlands. And not one piece of innovative gameplay is shown--very little actual gameplay is shown at all and only in such sort bursts that you can't really appreciate it.

I don't like this trailer at all and it gave me little reason to look forward to the game. (Sorry for being so negative.)
Nice! Almost forgot about RAGE, 2011 is choke-full with yummy titles so there hasn't been much of a need for YAS (yet-another-shooter). While yes the game looks copy pasted from <-insert-cliché-here-> it's nice to see a game every once in a while that doesn't try to one-up everyone else (that's just a nice way of saying 'Okay damn it, I love stupid shooters with stupid graphics making me kill stupid monsters!'). Oh well, will just have to jot a note down to play this whenever - right now the only game I'm DYING to play is Deus Ex: Human Revolution (yes, I will kill to get that game in my hands on day 1!).

The trailer wasn't awful, but impressive? No. This wasn't more than run-of-the-mill and that either reflects poorly on the game (hope not) or unimaginative marketing. Either way, the trailer will just end up on the dumpster of averageness and shoveled aside.

It's nice but it doesn't really compare to newer games like LA Noir in terms of pushing the boundaries. Like others have mentioned the characters have a plastic play-dough like look to them, maybe thats the art direction.. now LA Noir, pushes not just technology but gameplay using their new facial capture system.. FPS have kinda stagnated IMO.. but there have been some exceptional standouts like Borderlands which combine RPG and FPS with a bold visual style.. and Fallout 3 etc.. which i see both influences on RAGE but i don't see where they are setting their own vision.. Time will tell i guess..

Pretty standard stuff...not really impressed by anything.

they had to cut back on tech to broaden the gameplay. Doom 4 is for graphics.
Its a very short trailer, doesn't show much but that doesn't mean there isnt alot there.

ID know how to make bad guys fun to fight with weapons that go BOOM and still be challenging. Combat in Fallout 3 and Bioshock was either frustrating or easy. GOW is rinse and repeat, as is COD.
I'd like to have seen something more, at least 2 minutes. And I'd expected some extra poly count. Doom3 (and to a certain degree Q4) were criticized for their low poly counts, I hope it really looks better than it appears.

I'm not 100% but I think that may be because they were extruding geometry on the cpu to get shadow volumes.

I hope this game has more to offer from a technical perspective than just "megatextures" (lol).
