Whats needed to publish iphone games?

Ive had a few idea's for some games that I was looking to put over xbox live indie marketplace. But when I discovered that itorque 2D was reduced to $99 I thought Id jump on it (I haven't made the investment yet, I wanted to come on here first and get tips from real developers who know what theyre talking about). Im thinking maybe theres just as big a gaming market for those 'I' products (Iphone, Ipad, Itouch) as there is for the xbox console. But that's just wishful thinking on my part, I have no idea how they pair up as far as gaming goes.

But anyways, what all is needed to publish a game on iphones? I mean does itorque 2D automatically grant you rights to that market or is there more to it?
I don't mean to sound like such a noob, my field is design not programming.

So yeah just wondering what the criteria is.
I also hear theres also a lot of fans of that android phone too. I mean I really can't tell one smart phone from another but my main objective is to develop for whichever mobile device has the most potential for games.

Thanks in advance for your responses everybody

BTW, I did a few google searches but I couldn't find anything in the way of licensing by apple. am slightly ashamed of myself for that sad.gif

With something like that Google will give you millions of results. When you know the company involved usually best to just go to their website and search there - http://developer.app...os/index.action.

Basically you need an account with Apple and then whichever of the dev systems you decide to go with.
