dude that's close to minimum wage. That's pretty weak :-/

Ahhahahaha!!
I work for about 5K/yr EUR as a mechanical engineer/machine designer/product developer with a whole project to take care of....

Well, I guess that's the prize for getting a cool/challenging task at a small company with a chance to get a great reference and a kick start in my career in a relatively small time. And I will blackmail them anyway soon [grin]

do you get any profit sharing or stock on top of it?

I guess it's pretty country specific as living costs I'm sure vary like crazy across europe.

No, I don't get (only some premium). Hungary is a rather poor country, but 5000/yr is low even there. But if I can do my stuff, I will ask for more money (in the middle on a project). Or I quit.

Tell me about it! And they KNEW! and i warned them WHILE working there... but they didn't do anything but give me more duties and headaches, so i quit.

The difference is that i was not kick starting my career (~10 yrs) so that pretty much suck.

Yes, I didn't say "you suck" literally... but i said: "ahh that X-dude is now working in the States no?, If I had known... that was the other reason i quit, because let's say he touched too much my balls"

I understand that might burn a bridge with the X-dude (because the studio manager can tell him) but not with the Studio manager... I hope.

it might. I have heard of talented people getting not getting hired just because they spoke ill of there former employer during the interview process. you are expected to remain professional, even if you HATE the last company you worked for. Don't feel too bad though, I did the same thing.
I was brand spanking new to the industry, only 4 months into my first position. One Friday I sent an IM bitching about my boss ... to my boss (oops). He called me into his office and I spent an hour arguing with him. I left his office thinking I probably wasn't going to have a job anymore. I came back on Monday morning and he was super apologetic to the department at our morning meeting. He stopped micromanaging me and a few weeks later I became the lead designer on a project. It was pretty scary!

Dude, don't use your ex-boss as your outlet, instead write it up using fake names and submit it anonymously to www.thedailywtf.com. That way we can all take a good laugh at them!
Also, don't wait 6 months, giving you time to forget all the juicy details.

Wow Zero, seems you've found a manager who might actually get it. [smile]

Many people, given even a tiny bit of power, are far to busy playing king of their little castle to abide such 'insults', much less find the time for a little honest introspection.

Assuming they treat and compensate you well otherwise, you should consider sticking around [grin]

Nah, I left at the first chance I could. I won't bad mouth a company online, but I will say that I plateaued in my advancement capabilities with them with that positional (but not pay) bump. The company opened a second studio in Austin less than a year after I started there, so I transferred over. I took the single designer slot the new studio had, and I wanted to be there at ground zero, so to speak. I was there for two years and then there was a giant lay-off ... now I'm with an entirely new company. I love my new job :)

A little more so on topic, I really don't think it is a good idea to bad mouth a company or studio. This industry really isn't all that big, and you don't want to burn bridges at all if you can help it. I moved to a new city for this new position and my new coworkers know some of my old coworkers! Yeah, small world.

Shit. I'm applying for something fairly lower that that... but I'll hopefully find a way to gear up on additional benefits.
Cost of life is sky-high here.
