So I made a fun XMas game for my parents - they run Mac OS X Snow Leopard.
I created a universal mac build from my PC, and uploaded the .app to Dropbox (online storage).
Now I'm at parents house and when I download the file, it automatically appends .zip. I unzip it and the application doesn't run or throw any error. Through some Googling I found out I needed to have zipped it before uploading it so that Mac knows what to do with the .app folder that I download from Dropbox.
Is there any way I can still run this .app? I can't run home (miles and miles) and zip it and reupload it, I'm just stuck with the .app folder uploaded from my PC.
I'm crossing my fingers there is a way to run my game! When I look at the application contents, everything is there, it just doesn't run.
Thanks for any help
Save my XMas! (Need Mac people)
It was saved - if anyone runs into this problem, it ended up being an execute permission problem, for whatever reason I have yet to find out. Read/Write permission were set so I overlooked it. Ended up being the execute permissions which I had to manually add in terminal. Also the Universal Mac build didn't work in any way - Only the Intel-only build worked.
Merry XMas!
Merry XMas!
When you copy a mac .app bundle onto another type of file system the symlinks and the per file perm settings can get lost. I have no idea what filesystem the dropbox backend system is running but if it's automagically zipping things for you then it most likely was the cause of your problems.
