Sony PSP phone maybe coming soon
I don't know if this is a good thing or a bad thing. The last company, Nokia, tried this and failed miserably. But. Sony already has both a phone market and games market. So on paper at least, this seems to be a good thing. Though, hopefully they are still going to bump up the hardware for the phone. Phones now have 1GB RAM, 1GB ROM, and 8GB of HDD. Plus! a slot for another 16 to 32GB of storage.

Best NES emulator/phone combo ever.
If Sony managed to do it right, it can be the next GameBoy - the one that just dominate the market.
The popularity of Iphone cover many bases, the phone, ease of use factor, games, apps (non-games), and lot of apps to choose from due to process of getting the game out.
if Sony only focus on games, and only allow large company via expensive dev kit, then I don't know what will happens.
Sony must understand it work both way: they can be like Iphone, but Apple can also release IPhone 5 that look like PSP. A sliding phone with keyboard is around for a long time. all apple have to do is to use some of the keys as action and directional keys and voila - we can play advance games on Iphone too!
not to mention all those business user who prefer to finger type texts and many other thing using keyboard.

I barely use my PSP and DS anymore because I just don't want to carry them around. If I had a phone with the PSP's entire back-catalog available though (and for the love of god TWIN STICKS), I think that'd actually interest me quite extremely.
It's hard to say......plenty of people have thought previous projects that turned out to be amazing to fail......it all depends on how Sony markets it. I myself would like to have some high end games on the phone, but that's just me :)
No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
I don't know about this. What space are they competing in? If they're going up against smartphones, then will they be able to sell games that don't cost $0.99-$5? And if people aren't willing to spend $40+ on games, then I doubt there would be much developer interest for serious games (plus it would need a dev environment that didn't require expensive devkits).
Too many questions...
Too many questions...
I'de love to see a phone that provides an interface like this. I'de be able to take a game like Pokemon everywhere I go, and even make it an mmo with the data service. Of course, I don't see a reason we couldn't have games as good as some PSP or DS games on many android designed devices right now. Instead of a control pad, you dedicate part of the touch screen real estate as a rendered controller.
