I have had a few years programming experience, and wanted to get into game development.

I haven't managed to find some decent sounds though. I am making an audio game for the blind, so good sounds are kind of a must. I don't have the funding to back purchasing huge sound libraries, and I plan to make my first game free, so my question is this:
Are there any free good resources for sounds and music?

I have no idea what music you need. But my suggestion is to check out Newgrounds.com and click there Audio Portal section. Tons of users submit there own music (mostly done on computers). According to Newgrounds, you may or may not be able to "use" the music. You can play the music right on the website, and each page displays the author's information including email. Email each author for agreements before using them!

Do some digging as some music tracks are great, others not so much :D

A video game for the blind? Sounds good. I'm interested. What do you have in mind for game play? Definitely keep us updated on this.

I don't have any sound suggestions. Best of luck to you though. If you are creating a free game. It sounds like a good cause. I would imagine you can find a sound effects designer to join together as a team.
