I just recently found out about firefall for the PC and even though its not going to be released until late next year Im certainly at awe from what Ive seen so far.

According to the developers its going to be free to download and play (PC only mind you). And its going to be somewhat of an MMO I guess. Im excited for this one.
anyone else excited about firefall?
I signed up for the beta when it was announced, but honestly the game looks boring. I hate to make generalizations, but FPS mixed RPG games haven't been good in the past. Also it's not an MMO, Not sure where you got that idea. >_>
Also free to play tends to make games bad. I don't really respect games with item malls. If anything this game is just Huxley seen to completion. (Though that's looking too far ahead. The game could still die in production).
What I'm saying is don't hold your breath.

Heresy!
More thinking of the multiplayer games. I can't think of too many big failures at the moment other than like Hellgate London, but I can't think of too many games similar to Firefall that have succeeded. Maybe it'll be different. Kind of reminds me of an FPS guild wars at the moment though.
I think it mostly comes down to stupid or predictable AI. We get it they run at you.
(Also I hate threads like this. It just makes me think of Planetside and causes me to check on the slow progress of sequel that's been in development for over a year).
TBH I far more enjoyed playing SS2 in multplayer on Impossible difficulty. Although - granted - I couldn't name any other RPG FPS games that made a splash. Mass Effect 1/2, perhaps. But that's simgle player only.
Looks Borderlands-esque. To me, if a game doesn't have a strong storyline, then it better have kickass multiplayer. This just looks like mindless co-op (like Borderlands). Which is ok to kill some time, but won't ever steal my heart.
Is this game based on Robert Heinlein's "Space Troopers" novel? Because it really looks like it does.
[size="2"]I like the Walrus best.
Game looks interesting, but I recall some of their devs being jerks while waiting in line at PAX 2009, which kinda dampens my enthusiasm.

You mean Starship Troopers? I don't see the resemblance other than they are killing bugs. ST was about mobile infantry in fully mechanized suits dropping out of spaceships. The footage I saw looked more like a Dune knockoff with the "thumpers" and ore harvesting.

Yes sorry, Starship Troopers. Those drilling machines falling from the sky, the bugs and somehow the propelled suits of the characters (infantry?) kinda made see some resemblance.
