I'm attending a community college and trying to get degrees in computer science and business management while working a part time job. I was homeless for a few months because some stuff happened that put me in serious debt. Now I'm living in a super ghetto apartment trying to just finish my associate's degrees so I can transfer to NC state but since I have been here I've had a crack head jack up my car.

They slashed my tires and spit all over my car. I also had some dude messing with the lock on my apartment door while I was sleeping. So I set up my webcam to record my car but I'm still scared someone will brake into my apartment and take all my stuff.

I was thinking about using a magnetic switch on my door that when triggered will send a text message to my phone so that I can call the cops if I'm not there. I wanted to use Google voice to send the message but I don't know how and I'm not sure what port to use on my computer to receive the signal from the magnetic switch.
