How do you prefer your mouse pointer speed?

Do you prefer your mouse pointer speed fast or slow?

Personally I prefer it quite fast, other people using it are sometimes surprised. But I really can't stand it when my arm, instead of just my fingers, need to move to be able to reach every side of the screen. Or worse, needing to lift the mouse and put it back to be able to move accross the screen...

I measured that the mouse needs to move 3cm to have the pointer go from left to right on the screen.

On the other hand, I don't really seem to care about acceleration, other than the effect it has on speed.

I think high speed might also be good against a mouse arm, because I never had that problem :)

*disclaimer* I use a trackball (logitec trackman wheel). They are easier on the arm and the wrist. I get horrible pains (likely carpal tunnel) from using a regular mouse. Besides, they take up no space (no need for a mouse pad or room to move it), and work in any orientation (easy to lie on the couch and use it).

I have the speed set almost at max, resulting in one move of my thumb from left to right moving the cursor across the entire screen. Anything much larger, I usually just flick the ball to send the cursor flying to the other end of my dual monitor setup.
I have the pointer set with "low" acceleration. Having it set any higher is always annoying, since you really have to move to get the cursor to move. Having it set to off is also bad, since you lose all fine control.

For games like COD:MW2 i make sure that is calibrated so one-screen worth of movement is a bit better than a 180deg turn.

I have a Deathadder at 1800DPI.
I tried using 3500DPI but it was just a little high.

As far as controller sensitivity goes i keep it maxxed in every game.
I hope I can make a living out of this.
I don't know what my actual speed setting is, but it takes approximately one movement of the mouse from the left edge of my mousepad to the right edge to traverse one of my 1680x1050 monitors.

Of course, I'm running a triple-head setup, so I still end up lifting and re-setting the mouse a lot. But I really don't care about it, so meh.

I just ordered a Razer Abyssus. Because I like that it has hardware switches to control DPI (450, 1800 and 3500), instead of relying on bloated drivers to do that.

Hehe, I'd get crazy with a setup that needs so much movement, but everyone has their own style of course, and with 3 monitors in a row I assume it gets really hard to get a setup that is precise enough and doesn't require lifting the mouse :)

I keep mouse acceleration off, and the speed somewhere between slow and medium. I've had friends who kept it high enough that breathing on the mouse could move it completely across a 24" monitor, but I find that I prefer to see where my mouse is. Even with such a slow mouse, I do fine in FPS's.
Hey, taht is intresting!!1

Anyway: 1024 pixles / 2.5 cm in Windows, and rts games).
360 degrees / 30-40 cm in fps games.

But my pointing accuracy is horrible in Windows due to the big sensitivity (like my dead grandma's). And the interesting thing is that I still lift the mouse quite often. Often the movement of my hand is only the movement of my thumb.

I can never turn the mouse sensitivity up high enough on windows. Even my (currently broken) 1800dpi mouse, when it worked, was not sensitive enough for my liking. When it broke I went to my spare mouse, which is only 800 dpi :(

Just a word of warning though;

having a high mouse sensitivity means you are using the same muscles repeatedly to move it; turn it down, and you will also move your arm, thus reducing the repetitive strain on your wrists.

Don't thank me, thank the moon's gravitation pull! Post in My Journal and help me to not procrastinate!
Moving my mouse four inches moves the cursor the entire width of my dual monitor 2560x1024 desktop.

It's easy to get used to a hyper-sensitive mouse. It's impossible to get used to a slow one.
