Games with good melee combat

I'm looking for some new games to play, and I'm looking for some that have good melee combat. I've been playing Dragon Age Origins recently, and it's ok, but I'd prefer something with more freedom in combat. With Dragon Age, the character really does all of the fighting, you just click once and the character practically does the rest. I'm looking for games where the character attacks with each button press (similar to the old Lord of the Rings games). Do you know of any?

Thanks
I would recommend checking out Mount and Blade: Warband (multiplayer, cheap, third person) and Age of Chivalry (multiplayer, free Source mod, first person).

IMHO, Age of Conan used to have the best melee combat in a PC game, though it's been slowed and dumbed down a lot over the past 12-18 months, so that's likely not much help for you ;)

second for Mount & Blade: Warband. It goes on deal sometimes at <£10 but by default its £25. Its terrific, it will have you hooked. There is good community of mapper's and modderss making interesting quirky changes. Movie inspired maps etc.

Multiplayer can do (buy doesnt support) over 200 players and its still playable. There are weekly public matches on teamspeak for people who want to organize into formations n stuff.

Its given me months of entertainment and it needs all the support it can get to go on and become a AAA hit.
Third vote for Mount & Blade: Warband. I haven't been able to play multiplayer yet though since my connection can't handle it. But the single player campaign is rather fun as well.
Star Wars Jedi Academy had pretty awesome melee combat with lightsabers, if you are into that kind of thing. Pretty old game, can be found in bargain bins.

[OpenTK: C# OpenGL 4.4, OpenGL ES 3.0 and OpenAL 1.1. Now with Linux/KMS support!]

Mount & Blade has the best melee combat ever. Times a million. Plus infinity.

Try out SoulCalibur 4
Maybe it's too obvious, but have you played any of the God of War games? I enjoyed the melee combat in those games more than any other.
Dragon Age 2 will be pretty awesome for melee combat. It's a lot of fun. :)

Die by the Sword.
You either believe that within your society more individuals are good than evil, and that by protecting the freedom of individuals within that society you will end up with a society that is as fair as possible, or you believe that within your society more individuals are evil than good, and that by limiting the freedom of individuals within that society you will end up with a society that is as fair as possible.
