2 quick MAX questions, if someone have the time to answer: 1. How to scale something in only either x, y or z direction? 2. How to manually set (x,y,z) position to a object. Thanks, Zeblar Nagrim, Lord of Chaos
i wonder if it work with 3dsmax 3 (y use 4.2), but :

1-push (left button) the scale button, then change to "select to non-uniform scale", next push the X button, and finally select the part/objets you can modify and move the mouse vertically (in some windows).

2-Select the object, then push (right button) the move button, you can select the position in x,y,z coordinates.

hummmm, if you have a illegal copy, then grab some 3dsmax 4 copy. If you have a legal copy, then upgrade to 3.xx version www.discreet.com

Is it only possible to select "Uniform Scale" with MAX 3.0? Ie. is it possible to only scale a object in x direction?

nope!, uniform scale is equal to change the size of the object, non-uniform scale is equl to change the size in some axis.

Thanks eng3d,

That´s bad beccuase I´m trying to create a "Doom-Style" level for my game and I need to know how to resize a room I have made. The room only have a floor, roof and 4 walls. It is so hard to connect all faces with each other. I would save a lot of time if it was possible to scale a couple of objects in a particular direction.

Thanks beginner_directx!
1 - the scale button is actually a rollout as the first poster said.

2 - F12 will load the transform type in tool. It is also accessable from the Tools menu.
