Rumor: Borderlands Studio Reviving Duke Nukem Forever
I have nothing tangible to contribute to this thread except LOL.
You all may carry on now.

Duke never sat with me as a genuine rebel though. He was a bog-standard schoolboy-who-just-hit-puberty daydream vehicle; a movie action hero who tries to be cool by spouting lines ripped off cult classic films and always thinking about boobies. I think that's why he still annoys me - he's the poster boy of that adolescent segment of gaming in the mid to late nineties where it seemed perfectly acceptable to have the industry run by men who were acting like they were thirteen.
Yeah. I never really cared for Duke as a character, and I probably wouldn't play a new Duke unless it had something else. My favorite part of Duke3D was the pretty detailed level design. At the time, there was soooo much stuff that was interactable like pool tables and such. But most games today have that sort of thing so what does Duke have to bring to the table now?

My prediction:
- Duke Nukem Forever will eventually be finished
- The £££ will roll in due to the name and mystique attached to it
- People discover that the game is another bland shooter and not remotely similar to the older Duke games
- "Too many cooks spoil the broth" and the game will have lost focus and be a mess
- Cries of "should have cancelled it years ago" and it flops
My prediction:
- Gets finished.
- Gets amazing sales due to the visibility of the DNF project in the public consciousness and good old word of mouth.
- Ends up being quite bland and generic, although not bad.
- A sequel gets announced due to the good initial sales, gaming world collectively groans at the announcement.
- Developer eventually goes bust, and the project is never picked back up due to a general lack of interest.
-Then they start making a sequal called "Duke Nuken For Eternity", and in the year 2040 people are making a thread on GameDev.Net predicting that "it will certainly be released in 2042".

Gearbox actually makes very good games (mostly FPS with nice level design) and would be perfect for the job. Question is, whether they continue the development on the same game that 3D Realms started, or make a whole new one.
They are going to continue from where 3D Realms left off, then after about 6 months, they will say that the engine is not good enough, so they switch to another engine and start the development all over. Then after 3-4 years of sporadically releasing various short clips and teasers of DNF showing that the game is indeed in progress, they file bankruptcy.
See, Axl? You don't have to feel so bad about Chinese Democracy, after all.
If there's one thing I like about Duke Nukem Forever, it's that my kids and I will be able to joke about it and actually get each other's jokes. This game is beautiful, in a way. Brings people together.

Dude...when you're stealing jokes from a guy that has very little sense of humour himself, it's time to really start worrying!
[lol] [lol]
Well obviously, it must official seeing that now Yahoo has reported it is coming out in 2011. And the game was demoed at PAX.
DNF actually reversed DNR. Yay!
Now who taking bets that DNF will outsell Halo 3: Reach, GTA4, or GT5?!

Was? You mean is. Will be playing it tomorrow... after more gw2 and some dragon age 2... and possibly after some sw:tor
In time the project grows, the ignorance of its devs it shows, with many a convoluted function, it plunges into deep compunction, the price of failure is high, Washu's mirth is nigh.
