Many of you may know of the old series of Megaman Legends, how they betrayed the fans by not finishing the series. I came up with a little plan, the creator (can't recall his name, Keiji I believe it was, no matter) said a next-gen Legends game would be costly and not bring enough profits. I was thinking, if we got permission from Capcom to edit and modify their game for 100% non profit use, and turn the old two games from the series, one 1995, and one 1999, into next-gen games and get many fans and millions (shooting for billions) of downloads, we can convince Capcom that the series is still very much alive and persuade them to finish off the series. Sure its ambitious, but it may work, I need to gather up a team of modelers and texturers, hopefully some scripters and animators (we can use the old ones if we must). Maybe we can get our hands on a new game engine for free or through donations(if we even get any). That basically sums it up. I'll be a bit inactive after this post, but will be checking back for responses. Currently, the team constists of: Me... yeah, I need help. Keep in mind t hat this is just a proposal, I've yet to get permission from Capcom or anything. I'm looking for feedback on the project, then once I get the required rights, I'll gather a team up and get everything started. Please, leave your feedback and comments, I'll be glad to respond. Oh, and, yes, I know I have to follow the template, but this is just a suggestion/proposal before that. You can contact me at ValorBlades@Gmail.com for further questions.

Best regards,

-Blades.

The rules clearly state that you may not post here until you do.

So.. what.. you're special? The rules don't apply to you? Should we let everyone ignore the template if they say it's not a request, but a proposal?

Your best bet is to delete this before a Mod does, and post again when you do have permission and can be bothered to follow the template.

I reported the post, dont know how to delete it, sorry.
Nothing wrong with discussing. Moved to the Lounge.
Thanks so much, I kinda lost hope, but thanks for leaving it open. Well, know I have to wait for the feedback. Thanks again.

This is extremely inflammatory language that does very little to make you sound respectable enough to work with. To start with, to accuse Capcom of "betraying" their fans suggests a position based purely on emotional reaction and not on rational arguments based on business sense. It would just as easily been a "betrayal" of their fans for them to dump the millions of dollars necessary into producing a modern iteration on one of the Legends games and have it sell poorly enough to not break even. That's time and money they could have put towards a project more likely to be successful (and apparently did). Capcom's a business.

Second, there's hardly an 'idea' here that hasn't been thought up by every other fan of a dormant series of games. You've got nothing original, so you should really avoid taking that kind of aggressive tone because it doesn't make you seem worth working with.

Let's give you the benefit of the doubt here and pretend that a licensing representative from Capcom would even think about considering this proposal of yours instead of binning your email immediately (which is the more likely case, really). They're going to searching for you to see how reputable of an organization you represent. They'll use your name and email. Guess which thread shows up as the first Google result for your email address, right now? This one, where you (a) insult Capcom and (b) insult the community you're reaching out to.

That's not a very good starting point.

But frankly, to be realistic, this is unlikely to go anywhere for you. Capcom is extremely protective of its IP, it is not 'free' for them to allow a rag-tag collection of people from the internet with no prior successes working together to utilize it without extreme oversight, and their operational model for working with licensees is probably not set up to interact with individuals. If you want any chance of this succeeding at all you're probably going to have to establish your team first, organize yourself as some kind of company, and then contact them to determine how to even enter in contractual negotiations for IP usage.

Steal CapCom's IP, they sue you. Just a warning.

I'm also selling these here mighty fine paragraphs, guaranteed to fit into any post or money back.

I was thinking, if we got permission from Capcom to edit and modify their game for 100% non profit use,....There is a 99% probability that Capcom will not give permission - there is 100% probability that they won't give permission unless you actually ask.

First you need to get permission from Capcom

Maybe... again, the only way to find out is actually do some research into what is available.

So you haven't done anything so far and aren't doing anything. This project is obviously going to go far.

So yeah like I totally want this guy to make a game and I don't really know his name because it's all like moon-speak and whatever no biggie I'm sure he's not one of the most well known names in the industry or anything and I definitely can't google it but yeah he made some game once but then he won't make another so we'll like take his game and then we'll make TEAM AWESOME and then BAM POPULAR BILLIONS and then he'll make more and Capcom will totally love us BEST IDEA EVER don't steal it plz.

Just to clarify, when you say "hurt" do you mean physically? If so, you have a long flight ahead of you to get to NZ.

Financially? You will ruin me for stealing the idea to use someone elses IP?

Or perhaps you mean that you will eviscerate me in prose, with a series of witty remarks each more cutting than the last, until my dignity lies in shreds and my self-confidence in ruins?

It's just too tempting to resist. I am hereby stealing your idea*, let the hurting commence.

* As soon as I can penetrate that dense wall of text and determine what exactly your idea is.
