I posed this question to my friends last week.
If your government was to ban something what would it be that would make you take up arms and fight for it back (or leave the country)?
To stop everyone saying "freedom of speech" im adding a rule - it must be tangible.

My family. Anything that would either physically separate me from my family or my ability to care for my family.

I just watched "The Art of the Steal" and that pissed me off a good bit. If stuff like that was more prevalent, I think it would be worth taking up arms for.
I've taken up arms to defend my friends from drunks and miscreants, so I suppose I'd do it again.

This is a pretty leading question with a huge set of a priori assumptions.
The most likely scenario, one which I'm already seeing, is that some interest actively seeks to take the government away from the people, not the other way around.
That said, I would not take up arms against anything except a direct immediate physical threat to my immediate family. Anything else I would attempt more productive, effective, and lasting means.

What a hotbed of political unrest GD is. Was it always so? I mean I remember big arguments on guns a few years back, being surprised how 'Texas' GD seemed to be, but when I pop in these days it seems half the threads are about such things. Also, considering GD has such a global membership it always seems odd how American the discussions are. Is that the case or is it simply that we don't have such big issues over freedoms in Europe? I do remember Australian threads being quite common so maybe that's the case.
Oh and to answer the question... it's not a subject I've ever thought about. I suppose if someone attacked me or my wife or broke into our house I might fight them, but that's instinctive. I can't conceive I'd ever go on some gun-toting rampage; to me it's laughable anyone in a civilised country would really consider that a realistic option. Peaceful protests, maybe.
