3DS file & Lighting (normals...)

Hello , i''m working on a tool which reading 3ds files but i have a little problem. i''m calc the normals for each triangles so the lighting dones''t gets very good, it''s light up the triangle!, is there a way to calc per vertex normal and makes the light be more smoothly on the mesh!? thanks alot, and bye.

You just have to specify normals at each vertex. ogl''s lighting model will do the rest
