-linux for dsi? (no computer)
-free apps / games?
-programming directly on dsi available?

There is quite a bit of DS homebrew. Much of it works on DSi, you would just need the proper modifications to the device.

Programming on the device would be horribly inefficient for anything worth doing. A few people did that for higher powered mobile devices, but they stink. The processor is slow and the memory is limited. Go ahead and use the thing as a text editor if you want, but without a keyboard the input will be slow.
