Nehe's work (his jobb that is...)
I don''t know about you guys, but it seems to me that NEHE''s employe don''t know sh-te about anything in computerland.
The stuff they blame him for.
His posts reminds me of my former boss. A guy that hired a C++ guru to setup an intranet. JESUS!!
He once asked me if it was a good deal to upgrade to Win98.
The question went something like this "...-cous'' i already got office.."
What?! Is there any point in upgrading to Win98, because you already have office? What kind of question is that?
A person that can''t tell Office and the O.S appart shouldn''t be working with computers.
My answer(and a quick change of subject)??!
-You want some coffea...
Sorry..i''m gettin all worked up here...
Gotta go and hit something ]-|

I write [silly little shareware] games for a living. Friends and family work in the development industry; they draw much larger salaries than I do. I hope that''ll change. On the plus side, I don''t have to deal with incompetent middle-management.
However, I do have to deal with irrationally angry customers every now and again. Pick your poison.

Perhaps, someone told him that Office would run better on a newer version of Windows. I''ve asked silly questions about display lists and pixel buffers here. I''m new... I don''t think anyone''s ever chastized me for it.

I know, it got me edgy as soon as Nehe first mentioned about how his boss treats him (as if he was the dumb one). I swear, if i was Nehe, i''d go up to the boss and tell him once again what my specifications are, why i was hired, and what i am capable of doing with the intranet.
Honestly, single people in the whole entire business with intellect should not have to limit their standards for way of their ''co-workers''.
That would just piss me off to have your boss hire someone to fiddle round with my network so that the next week i''d have to find out what the hell went wrong with it.. Hey nehe, maybe thats how your network stuffed up the other times.. :/
Urgh, i can wait before getting into the computer industry..

It''s times like these that remind me of the three laws of business...
1. P = W / t (Power = Work / time)
2. K = P (Knowledge is Power)
3. t = $ (Time is Money)
Doing a little bit of basic algebra, we can understand this situation more carefully.
For starters, we all know that if it weren''t for developers and engineers, many businesses would go under, because we support them all. Thus we have power.
As a result, since we have more power, by equation 1, we also have to do most of the work, and we also have less time to do that work in. Thus resulting in more stress and general unhappiness towards us, the hard workers.
Since he have the power, we also have much more knowledge by equation 2. Thus, upper managment (whose power is really just a figment of their imaginations) don''t have the knowledge base engineers have to support such a highly sophisticated machine we like to call computers.
And that brings us to equation 3. As mentioned before when dealing with equation 1, we have little time; which means we have little money, at least compared to those big business execs in their penthouses on the 47th floor of the building.
This just goes to show you that, though we may be poor, overworked, and stressed out, it''s we who hold the key to knowledge and really have the true power.
