Holy Crap

Has anyone been following this? This is absolutely ridiculous. a 10 hour tennis game in the first round of wimbledon. Tie breaker round is at 59-59 and they had to postpone till tomorrow because it went too long.

HOLY CRAP THAT'S A LOT OF TENNIS.

Reminds me of the days when I'd go play with a group of friends and we would literally play from sunset till "we're shutting the lights off now". Playing three to five 5-set games was not uncommon. I can't imagine playing that long competitively though.

Are they just both holding serve?

I didn't watch, but I think they got close to a couple match points a few times.

This is incredible. I can't think that after that much time playing that there would be a lot of enthusiasm left to return a serve, hence more aces.

I thought The Grauniad's live blog of the event was fairly amusing. It all starts to go a bit weird towards the end.

Holy crap, what are the odds?! Consider that in an advantage set, you only have to win by 2. This means they've been winning alternate games for 7 hours! [wow]

Consider also that it actually started *yesterday*, and has now been suspended twice for nightfall.

My question is whether the winner will have enough strength left to play well in his next match...
