Been working on a tutorial dealing with RTS stuff. Here is roughly 5 hours of work. The models aren't meant to be amazing, just something that I can use to get a point across and to look decently appealing.

NBA2K, Madden, Maneater, Killing Floor, Sims

Maybe baked ambient occulsion would help.

Add some texture areas for faction markings.
(This is building/unit of red/green/blue player.)

Make front heading of units more clear.
(I just hate when unit is facing wrong direction,
and before it can shot it must turn around)

I like them, they are really nice and looking like good old c&c units. Good work,
Your camera uses a perspective projection, you should make it orthogonal for better results. How you do this depends on the 3d program you're using. Take the two structures in the second-to-last row for example, the corner points of the ground plane shouldn't get closer the further they are away from the camera, all four should make up an isometric rectangle (ie. a rectangle rotated by 45 degrees).

I'm very interested in tutorials on how to render good 2d RTS units although I have to say that, honestly, your presented work would probably only teach very new artists the bare basics. I don't find these units and structures better than programmer-art looking. It's mostly because of the textures, weird shapes (the heli for example has TINY wings, I can't even comprehend what the thing to the right of it is trying to be) and lack of geometric details (the tank for example).

So, all in all, I say, make the tutorial but make sure people understand they aren't going to learn how to model great looking units and structures before hand as that'd probably disappoint.
Yea this is for very beginner, but it's also not focused so much on art. I do agree with you on the quality, again the models serve their purpose. I just need some models to step into the programming tutorial phase.

These units will be 3D, not 2D, so maybe that is why you suggested the perspective problem.

Aside from that I'm not sure if everyone else would agree, but why are the wings tiny?

They are pretty much standard size to me.
