I'm currently in the process of developing a podcast and have a few ideas as to what kind of content to include but I'd really be interested in hearing your ideas as to what you would want to listen to in an hour long podcast?
The show itself is going to be generally focused around game development including game programming (including design patterns, etc...), game developer interviews, and discussions about generic game industry topics. I'd like to focus more on a 'game developer' podcast where there's more about code and design/development rather than generic topics but I'm sure some will eventually happen.
Right now I've got an interview or two scheduled for a strong start to this but what kind of development stuff would you like to hear?
Creating New Podcast (What Content Do You Want?)
I think you should talk about opensource game engines such as blender.
For coding, talk about which language in now popular amongst game developers and why that is. Talk about ways design your game events.

So... going to talk about C++? It's been popular amongst them for quite a while.
I know that I use it myself but I mean considering other people and what they use for what reasons. Many people never heard of C++ but heard of Java for example. Anyway they where just thoughts.
for your general podcasts where you aren't interviewing you should do whatever you're interested in. If you're not interested in it, it will be boring to listen to.
Don't worry about tailoring your podcast to your audience when you're just starting because it will just make it mediocre. Find your niche then work on expanding.
For when you're interviewing someone, just talk about whatever they have an expert opinion in or even current events.
Some of the most interesting topical podcasts I've heard are podcasts where they have gone off topic. For example, the three red lights podcasts on ign are hilarious to listen to when they spend 30 minutes talking about lost every show.

Transcripts. Audio is too slow without graphical aids or a high level of interactivity for any kind of "informational information". Pod casts, for me, are like trying to live in some kind of uncanny valley.
Before anyone comments, yes I'm from the ADD generation.

have you tried listening to podcasts while doing other stuff?
Anything you can do while listening to a conversation probably isn't worth doing. Podcasts just hit that uncanny valley for how much attention you need to pay, the types of content you can deliver, the quality of delivery, and how long they take.
So the best content for a podcast is a transcript. I am however just a voice on the Internet which means there are probably more people that disagree with me than agree.

Thanks for all the input guys. I started some of the early production of the podcast last night so hopefully soon you'll see a post in the 'Your Announcements' forum with a podcast!
It would be awesome to have a few emails to answer during my first podcast so if you get some time, send a question email to deepfrieddevcast[at]gmail[dot]com
The first guest interview will be focused on some XNA and indie games so if you have questions about that or just random questions, send 'em in and I'll ask/answer them!
Any other content ideas are welcome.
Edit: Also if anyone would like to be a guest co-host let me know, I'm definitely looking for people!
