Survey for a composer's union
On my film composer mailing list there is much discussion about a composer's union brewing in Los Angeles along the lines of the Screen Actors Guild, Writers Guild, etc. But it's in the early stages and there is a lot of back & forth as to who should be included, benefits, Teamsters. The survey is designed to find out what composers really desire in such a union. It's mostly talking about film composers, but the survey does have questions as to whether game composers should be included. Check it out. I have no connection to this survey, just an interested musician passing it along. --------- FILM MUSIC MAGAZINE COMPOSER UNIONIZATION SURVEY ANNOUNCED MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD ON ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT INDUSTRY ISSUES TODAY Film Music Magazine has launched the industry's first comprehensive survey about composer unionization. This survey explores many aspects of composer unionization, the current activities of the AMCL unionizing group and the Teamsters, and much more. We invite all composers to take the survey today at: http://www.composersurvey.com The survey is being conducted from May 24 through June 10, with results available on June 15 on the Film Music Magazine website. Complete results will also be sent to the AMCL Organizing Committee and the Teamsters including all comments submitted by those who take the survey. All survey responses are completely anonymous and no identifying information is collected from those who respond. Industry leaders have said that we as composers have "one chance" to successfully establish a composers union. We agree and hope all composers will make their voice heard and participate in this important industry survey. SURVEY CLOSES JUNE 10 - MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD TODAY http://www.composersurvey.com
