Would have been more useful to see how many people use laptops versus desktops and how that sways their wanting to use a second monitor. I use a 17" laptop as my development computers and even at work I only use 1 monitor. (My coworker has 5 monitors for no reason other than to have them).

I think I'll submit a poll about that.

2 is pretty common among developers, but until recently 3 wasn't easy to set up on a standard PC. Matrox has even cornered that niche with their stupidly priced tripplehead thingies.

On my main PC I've got a second GPU, which doesn't do any processing, it's just there to provide another two DVI plugs ;)
For gaming I use SoftTH to trick games into thinking I have one single super-wide screen.
