UEFA Champions League Final
Bayern Munich versus Inter Milan. The game starts a little more than an hour from now. Is anybody else watching it? It's being shown in the United States on Fox, which is unusual. Is this game the European equivalent to the Superbowl? Anybody want to hazard a prediction? I think Inter Milan will win by a score of 3-2.

Probably...Champions League is definately the most prestigious tournament when it comes to football clubs(that is, not national teams). Personally, I wanted Barcelona to the final, but oh well. By principle, I never risk a prediction when there's a german team involved; those guys *never* give up. Never. I mean, the score could be 3-0 for the opponent, 5 minutes before the end and you still can't be sure. So I guess we'll see...I just hope it doesn't end up in a penalty shootout, those may be exciting, but I hate it when a hole title is judged by luck, more or less.
Well, that was a (expected) disappointing experience for the impartial viewer. Good thing I had enough beer to get through it.
Bayern Munich 0-2 Inter Milan
Milito scored both goals. His second was quite sweet. The refs missed a hand ball in the penalty zone during the first half that could have changed the momentum of the game. Both teams were strong defensively. There were fewer shots on goal than I expected, but having watched the quarter and semi-finals I should have expected that. There were fewer yellow cards than I expected. Bayern staged a couple of ferocious comebacks earlier in the tournament, so I didn't count them out until the game was nearly over. Did Ribery's absence make the difference?

Typical Mourinho style. Boring as hell but effective. Ribery would have provided more of a challenge. Shame really.
If the rumours are true, Mourinho's off to Real Madrid, should be interesting to see how he will turn an overly offensive team into a defensive wall. Well, good luck with that!

Everything is better with Metal.
Ribery probably would have picked up a red card too! [grin]

Would have been a harsh penalty to give in my opinion. I thought the Referee had a strong game, they never really mention an official's performance unless they do something wrong.
Robben had a very solid game, Ribery would certainly have made a difference they needed more creative players to get through Inters defence.
I am happy for Jose Mourinho, football needs more characters and for better or worse he certainly brings entertainment to the game. Next year at Real Madrid should be interesting.
Hopefully this time next year it will be Tottenham in the final :-)
