Sorry, but all complaints about speed cameras are utter bull imo; you take the risk of speeding then don't complain when you got caught. If everyone stuck to the speed limit then this cash cow would have no effect.
(note: imo the fines are soft, while on major roads they are fine I think that if you get caught speeding in a built up area then you car should be taken from you and either sold off and the money pushed back into the local transport budget or simply destroyed... preferably with the owner watching...)
It really should be something like 10km over the limit should get your nose smacked with a rolled up newspaper, and told to pay better attention. 20km over and you get a fine worth a day or two wages. (And have this scale based on your household income.) Anything more, and your license goes byebye.
I really have to laugh at people call fines "money grabs". I have never paid a fine in my life, because I have never done something that I would get issued one for. It really is that easy. Just don't break the laws!

I've never voted(yes I'm one of those worthless people).
If your putting forth ideas for alternative governments. My idea is no government at all. The Government just decides what it thinks is best for the people. I think the people should decide what is best for the people. Periodically things which require decisions are put out to the vote of people at certain convenient times, with the information being available beforehand.
Anyway I like the thought of this new collaborative government. Cameron made this speech before the election about why a hung parliment is bad. I cant remember exactly what he said but it was something along the lines of him wanting a decisive government, things that a king would say. That you need a government that does what it thinks is best and is able to do that. You end up with them going to war with probably that largest proportion of its people disagreeing with that decision.
I'm pretty sure most Government decisions are based on assumptions gut feelings deals and whatever. Hardly ever on proper studies and scientific theories, as evidenced by the scientists being panned.
We dont need a government that is so sure that what it is doing is right. We need a government that is under some scrutiny that isnt certain, that makes weighted carefull decisions.
It might bare out with these two parties working together(although maybe not). That company that wants some legislation pushed through the backdoor may have problems when they have to get it through two people.
That brings another thought of mine, how is it that these three hundred people that are in each party all conform and agree a hundred percent with the parties actions and policies. They dont always, but you can see on many occasions they are forced to, through some unknown means. These politicians, their thoughts, they are corrupt, they have to be. Their individuality is subsumed and conformed for the good of the party. Politicians scare me.
