Small interview with fellow game creators.
Hi,
I am currently studying Game Development, but since I dont know that much about the career strategy in this area; I thought I'd take a look at it by researching. One way to research this is to ask you; game developers (it can be designers, developers, or any kind of form of creating a game) what your experiences are and what you think you should do and what not in the harsh world of the game industry.
This research isn't only for myself; it is an assignment I need to do for school; thus it will be shown to other young game developers.
These are the questions where I would like to know the answers off;
1. What is your name, age, location, and profession? (it may be anonymous)
2. How did you break into what u have accomplished so far? Can u tell us about what career route u took?
3. Everyone in my class has an idea about how their career will look like. Did your expectations met reality?
4. Do u suggest to a person who has just graduated as a Game Developer, to work at a company or start a company on his own? Why?
5. What about the income? Does it depend on small assignments(i.e. it can vary), or do you get a regular paycheck a month?
6. If it won't work at the game industry, is it easy to find a job at a company that isn't involved with games, due to the fact that you can create programs with computer languages?
7. What advice would u give to a young game developer? Are there any kind of personal aspects needed for this certain profession?
8. Is there alot of space in the profession where u can freestyle with your creativity, or are there always strict requirements that you should meet?
I know these questions are quite stretched, so short answers are welcome as well.
Thanks in advance,
Hwan.
